"Grand Opening" of the Gallery "Uli´s Racing Legends" on Saturday, September 10th, 2005.

Another big happening for Uli´s Racing Legends. The gallery opening was a wonderful event with 120 fantastic guests. Jane and Geoff Doughty from Silverstone Racing Club/ England were the guests that travelled the longest distance, coming from their "home of motor sports" to ours. Friends of Uli´s, fans of the fine arts, motor sport enthusiasts and race drivers were among the mostly German visitors. At 6 pm Jane Doughty officially opened the gallery by cutting a ribbon of German, British, French and American national flags. At 7 pm Uli Ehret held a short speech, afterwards introduced the pianist Stephanie Titus to the audience and thanked all his friends, who helped him exhibit at Le Mans and with the grand opening. Thereafter, in the gallery's basement, the big question was: "Are you a racing legend?" You could prove yourself by driving one fast turn with a slot car on a Scalextric track within seven minutes. A true racing legend and the winner of that race was Alexandra Landerer, a photographer from Hemsbach. She finished in 5.568 sec., while many others (among them also male combatants) needed six and seven seconds. At 9 pm Uli invited his guests to an explanatory tour through the garden, where water colour paintings were illuminated that did not only show the motif of motor sports, but also landscapes and Northern Native American ink paintings. At 11 pm, when the Champagne supply had almost come to an end, the red wine bar opened. "Café Pietro" opened its doors to a room of the gallery for those who wanted to recover a little bit before driving home safely later on. A wonderful evening ended at three o'clock in the morning after the guests had watched films made at the Le Mans and Silverstone exhibitions and during Uli´s various visits in the past year.
