Porsche 356 Treffen Köln 2007, Porsche 356 Meeting Cologne 2007

356 and 550 - everybody knows what these numbers mean to real sportscar enthusiasts. Uli has the luck to meet a lot of these beautiful Porsches at the annual club meeting of the German 356 and 550 Porsche clubs at Cologne in mid of september.

More than 100 teams bring their A, B or C Cabriolets or Coupes and some rather rare pieces of the 356 and 550 Porsche history to Cologne. Uli painted a combination of the 356 Speedster Cabriolet, the 550 Prototype for Le Mans and the very rare Carrera GTL (Abarth-Carrera) in one painting.

The painting is the base for the poster of the event. Uli met Thomas Ernst, the event organizer and great 356 fan at Essen (Technoclassica). It was the beginning of a friendship and this provoked a little serie of works from Uli´s art.

Of course the topic were the fantastic designs of such legends as the 550 class winner in 1955, the Frankenberg-Polensky car or some rather unknown race cars like the Stuttgart Coupe in the hands of Graf von Berckheim at Panamericana, but no less a legend. You can meet Uli at the event. He shows some of his giant prints and of course some of the available Porsche originals. See you at Cologne, Holiday Inn, september 14, 15 and 16!

Techno Classica,
Essen 2007

My exhibition stand at Techno Classica, Essen. It was a very interesting week at Essen, with a lot of fantastic people from all over the world visiting my little stand. Thanks to all customers and new fans of my water colour paintings. I received a lot of suggestions for new paintings. Some commissions that I will paint the next weeks will also broaden the variety of the car brands illustrated by my paintings.

Goodwood Revival 2007

The most beautiful event featuring the magic times of the thirties, fourties, fifteeth and sixties I have ever seen. Congratulations to the organisation team and to all the public that supports this event with such fantastic enthusiasm. Not only the cars and war birds, the pits and paddock area, no also the catering houses, the event tents, the gas station, the emergency teams, the cafes..... just everything was as if we all were living back fifty years ago. Just great! Absolutely great! I am so happy to have seen this now once. It is a place were I will always come back (but surely better dressed).

Please have a look at the wonderful moments Jorg Stehr and I had at Goodwood. Together with some outrageous ten thousands of spectators, which nearly all could have been displayed here. We chose some very fancy dressed to show the spirit of this wonderful event. Thanks to David and Karen Richards and Lawrence Tomlinson (Panoz LNT team driver and Class winner at Le Mans 2006) to visit my exhibition and allow to display their foto here! Thanks to all the fantastic collectors and new supporters of my paintings. It was a great pleasure to meet you all again and talk to you over the three days of the event! With four originals and seven giant prints directly sold at the event, it was after Le Mans 24 hours my best event this year! Thank you!

Please have a look at the fotos (click on more fotos, please) to have a small idea of this great event at Goodwood Park near Chichester in Southern England.

Goodwood 2007

Welcome to Woodstock!
No rain... no rain... no rain...

First of all I have to say thank you to my good friends Jörg Stehr and Jörg Riepe, to my wonderful B&B "mother" Annette Whitmore-Jones and of course to all friends, collectors and race fans I met at Goodwood! Thanks also to Sarah Blunden and the organization team all around this fantastic meeting. Even in the toughest weather this meeting still was a great event and worth remembering. From the presented car and race car selection to the unbelievable Toyota presentation at the Goodwood house it was just astonishing how great the Festival of Speed was again in 2007. My exhibition of water colour paintings again won new fans but also attracted a lot of friends and collectors which I knew from last years Goodwood and from Le Mans.

So looking forward to the next years, it can only get even better in september at the Revival and in 2008, because we had enough rain for ten years now ...

Greetings to all friends, collectors and neighbours of Uli´s Racing Legends! I am looking forward to see you again in september or latest in 2008!

Yours sincerely
Uli Ehret

P.S.: Please have a look at the fotos, that are attached. You will see some impressions of Goodwood and my exhibition. Thank you!

Silverstone Classics 2006

One of the greatest moments in my life. The first motor sport event I ever witnessed was the German Grand Prix 1968 at the Nürburgring. Jackie Stewart and Francois Cevent were racing through the woods of the Nordschleife.

I will never forget the image shot from the point of view of the TV helicopter showing the track form the above. I watched that race with my whole family on the screen of my grandfather's TV back in 1970 or 1971. You can understand that having that background meeting Sir Jackie Stewart at Silverstone was an indescribable moment for me. He signed the original that we are holding in our hands (photo) and we talked for a short period of time about the painting and the print that I gave him as a present. Those were moments in my life that I surely will never forget.

Tobias Kollmar, my youngest helper at Silverstone, in action in the DBR9.
In the early morning hours, when the shops hadn't even opened yet the balloons made this Saturday morning very special in a way. There were more than fifteen hot air balloons starting from the circuit.
In the midst of the Silverstone circuit my stand was near the Art Marquee and the Mall, all things available a "petrolhead" really needs. Because of my broken arm unfortunately there were no new paintings to admire since Le Mans. Nevertheless, we had a fantastic weekend!
Steve Mellish and Lee Chatbume displayed their Formula Ford racing cars to promote the Walter Hayes Trophy in November at the Silverstone race track. Lee enabled me to meet Sir Jackie Stewart, because Jane Doughty from the Silverstone Racing Club introduced me to Lee. It was great to meet Lee and Steve. Two real racers with petrol running trough their veins (as we say in Germany).

3 Angels for Uli

There are things in life that are even more attractive than race cars and water colours…don't you agree?

Richard and Uli

Some of the people that come into my little tent share my passion for motor sports and the arts. Thank you for that fantastic moment in my life, Richard.

Dave, David, Uli & Tobias

Tobias was quite surprised when Dave invited him to a lap around the Silverstone Grand Prix circuit in his Caterham. They drove the dark green Caterham in the front.

David (in the red shirt) then offered me his passenger's seat and we followed Tobias and David around for two whole laps through Maggotts, Woodcote, Stowe and all the other famous bends of Silverstone. Thank you, David and Dave!

After that Tobias (photo above), Reinhard, Uli and Christopher (photo below) left the island again. Silverstone Classics was a fantastic place to be, yet again.

Thank you Geoff and Jane, Bury, Janet, Georgie, Peter, David, Dave, Steve, Lee, Bob, Claire, Jaclyn, Barbara, Mike, Pete and Sue, Anne and all other members at the SRC for your help and support!

Tim wins at Scalextric

Scalextric offered at Silverstone the chance to race and test a digital 2 lane 1:32 track. There were four drivers in the "flight", but only one could win. This driver had the chance to race five more laps alone, of which one lap was hand stopped. The time was written onto the leader board. Tim Ehret won on sunday a huge package with the great Scalextric slot race cars of Aston Martin (DBR9) and Jaguar (XKR). Needless to say how proud he was to win against many adults and other kids with a time of 3:99 sec. With a 4:00 and a 4:02 the second and third placed drivers nearly had won too. But: well done Tim! Now your dad has to sell a lot of paintings to finance your race carreer in scale 1:1?! But before we had to find a space to bring the fantastic track home to Germany! Thanks a lot to Scalextric!
